Jessica Mydek Variation (Slow Dance)

First Published April, 2000
Last Updated September, 2001

This variation of the Jessica Mydek chain letter has been circulating since January of 1999.  The original Jessica Mydek letter goes back to 1997.  This is a hoax letter based directly on the original with the name deleted.  Certainly, the name was deleted because so many people have heard of the Jessica Mydek letter that many recipients  delete it as soon as they see the name.  The poem was added to a portion of the original letter to tug a bit more at your heart strings.

Below are the two latest versions forwarded to me.  Please Do Not Forward as there is no child that will receive any money from the American Cancer Society.  There is no way to track email forwardings, and that is not how the American Cancer Society determines the distribution of funds (ie. based on random email forwardings) They know about this hoax and have issued a statement.  I find it interesting that it says not to delete it until you read who it is from, BUT it is unsigned and the beneficiary is never named!

PLEASE DO NOT DELETE THIS UNTIL YOU READ WHO IT IS FROM

Have you ever watched kids
On a merry-go-round
Or listened to the rain
Slapping on the ground?

Ever followed a butterfly's
Erratic fly
Or gazed at the sun into
The fading night?

You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

Do you run through each day
On the fly
When you ask "How are you?"
Do you hear the reply?

When the day is done
Do you lie in your bed
With the next hundred chores
Running through your head?

You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music wont last

Ever told your child
We'll do it tomorrow
And in your haste
Not see his sorrow?

Ever lost touch
Let a good friendship die
'Cause you never had time
To call and say "Hi"?

You better slow down
Don't dance so fast
Time is short
The music won't last

When you run so fast
To get somewhere
You miss half the fun
Of getting there

When you worry and hurry
Through your day
It is like an unopened gift
Thrown away...

Life is not a race
Do take it slower
Hear the music
Before the song is over.

PLEASE SEND THIS TO EVERYONE YOU KNOW...OR DON'T KNOW AT THAT.
This comes to you from a little girl that has cancer and only has 6 months to live.  As part of her dying wish, she wantedto start a chain letter telling everyone to live life to the fullest, since she never will.  She'll never make it to prom, graduate from high school, or get married and have a family of her own.  But by you sending this to as many people as possible, you can give her and her family a little hope, because with every name that this is sent to, the AmericanCancer Society will donate 3 cents per name to her treatment and recovery plan.  One guy sent this to 500 people!!!!
So I know we can send it to at least 5 or 6, come on you guys....and if you're too selfish to take 10-15 minutes scrolling this and forwarding it to EVERYONE, then you are one sick person.  Just think, it could be you one day.  It's not even your
money, just your time.

PLEASE PASS ON
